abt 1777 - A James Haines (who married an Elizabeth, and had a Coleman sister-in-law, and was living in Poulshot in 1851) was born in Poulshot  [u] 

21/3/1779 - A Luke bapt to James and Catherine Hains at Poulshot Wiltshire  [t] 

15/2/1781 - A James bapt to James and Catherine Hains at Poulshot Wiltshire  [t]
   (Is this the father of William Haines who emigrated to TTG on “Willliam Mitchell” in 1840? and was in Battle of Waterloo??)

   (Is this William Martin haines? the father of my James?) 

8/1/1790 - An Elizabeth bapt to James and Catherine Hains at Poulshot Wiltshire  [t] 

1801 - A William Haines was wounded on "Mercury" off Minorca (in the  Mediterranean)  [v]
   (This William Martin Haines would have only been 14 !?)
   (The Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry was raised in the Devizes area c1794, and was in the Devizes area in 1810, with Marlborough not far away.   Could they have also been on Guernsey in the early 1800s, considering the Napoleonic war was abt 1815?)
   (A William Haines, of the "95th" or "Rifle" Regiment, was decorated during the Peninsula War 1808-09. This Regt was raised in late 1700s, first colonel was Coote-Manningham, and it was at Waterloo in 1815).

   (St Johns, Whitwell-on-the-Hill Yks? on A64 15km NE of York?) 

7/3/1810 to 6/3/1811 - The William Haines, labourer of Trowbridge who was married to Jane nee Cook, and emigrated to SA on the "William Mitchell" in 1840, was born   [r] 

1810/1811 - The William Haines (wife Jane) who died in 1863 in TTG was born in Trowbridge Wilts, said to have a father James (who fought at Waterloo) and brothers George and James (James came out with William on "William Mitchell" in 1841?) [j] [d] [k] [m]
   (What if the "said to have a father James" was actually William, the soldier? - confused with James the brother?)
   (Waterloo was mid 1815)

   ("Adlam" is a Wiltshire name) 

24/6/1812 - A Mary Anne born to William Martin Haines and Mary .... at Marlborough (18km SE of Devizes) Wilts  [t]
   ("My" George Haines named his 5th child William Martin Haines, and George's brother James used Martin for one son's first name) 

14/11/1813 - A Jane born at Marlborough to William Martin Haines and wife Mary ....   [t]
   (This is only 4 months before James below, error somewhere??) 

12/3/1814 - A James Haynes born at Marlborough to William Martin Haynes and wife Mary (but `Haines' spelling used with earlier kids of this couple)  [t] 

14/6/1814 to 13/6/1815 - The James Haines, husb of Hannah, who died at Allandale Nth in 1866, was born  [c] 

7/6/1814 to 6/6/1815 - The James Hains who was living at "Green" Poulshot in 1841, was born in Wilts  [s] 

27/12/1814 to 26/12/1815 - The James Haines who emigrated to SA on the "Trafalgar" in 1849, was born in Wilts  [m] 

1816 - The James Haines (who married Hannah Flower) born, and "lived for some time .. in Devizes"  [q] 

1816 - A James Haines (who came out on "Trafalgar" in 1850, and died at Allendale Nth in 1866) was born at Devizes  [d] 

2/4/1820 - The William Haines born Guernsey 19/2/1811 to a William (a soldier), of Trowbridge, and his wife Mary, was bapt in the parish church of Poulshot   [g] 

10/10/1820 - A Henry Haines bapt at Poulshot, base child of Mary Haines of Poulshot  [g] 

20/6/1827 - A James Haines bapt at Potterne to William Haines (Lab) and Sarah  [g] 

19/7/1829 - A Mary Ann bapt at Poulshot to William Hains (Lab of Poulshot) and Sarah  [g] 

12/4/1830 - The William Haines (who died at TTG in 1863) married Jane Cook at Trowbridge  [k] 

28/2/1832 - A Hannah bapt at Potterne to William (Lab) and Sarah [g ?] 

17/8/1834 - A George bapt to William Hains (Labourer of Poulshot) and Sarah  [g] 

29/10/1835 - A James Hains (of this parish) and a Hannah Flower (of Worton "in the parish of Potterne") married in the parish church at Poulshot in Wilts (by banns), both signed with an `X', witnesses James Haynes and James Pierce (who both signed their names)   [g]
   (There's a James Pierce, 60, AgLab, bn Wilts, in the 1841 Census entry following James and Hannah.  There is a James Haines, 74, in the 1851 Poulshot Census) 

1840 - William Haines (who died at TTG in 1863) arrived in SA on "William Mitchell" with wife Jane (nee Cook) and children  [d]
