Fayers Etc

Now fossicking through the FAYERS (ATKINSON, NOTCUTT, MICKLEFIELD - in all sorts of spellings!) files, but have only a few scraps.

For a quick revision of this family group, re-read "Data Files - Other English" / "The Ancestors of Charlotte Atkinson Fayers of Bildeston in Suffolk", and all three files in "Chronologies Suffolk".

These three scraps were sent to me in the late 1960s by a lady in Suffolk, who did a browse through the originals of the Bildeston Anglican church records, plus the readable stones in the churchyard. Some of this data I can't quickly see online.

This is a transcript of a letter written to Charlotte Atkinson (wife of Robert Septimus Fayers) in Ipswich Suffolk, in 1829.  It's from her missionary brother in law Berrington Paine in Bellary in India. It's pretty dry in spots but a fascinating historical document of the life and times, well worth saving.

If you really want to push back your research into the early history of the NOTCUTT family of Suffolk, from about 1515 in Wrington in Somerset to when they linked up with the ATKINSON / FAYERS people in Suffolk in about the 1820s, there's a well-detailed book, which I found in a Somerset library, but is still available through Abe Books UK, at a price.   This is page 66 out of it, just to show you the style of the content.
