A few more HAINES scraps ...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
There is a Surgeon's Report on file in the SA State Library's SA History section, for the ship "Trafalgar" that came to Adelaide in 1850 with the family of James Haines and Hannah (nee Flower) and their children on board. It details some 20-odd deaths on the voyage (in an oddly matter-of-fact manner! - including that of their daughter Elizabeth Haines age 3, of "Hooping Cough"), along with the 7 births that are documented. There's also some notes on the conditions on board. Worth a look if you're in Adelaide some day.

There's some useful Haines family data in the book on the Flavel Family History - "FAR CALLED" - as one of the Haines boys married into the Flavels. A copy is available in the South Aust One Library system if you have an ordinary borrowers card.

These are 4 pages of research notes sent to me by a Haines descendant whose father intended to compile a book on the family, but he sadly passed away before he could get to it. They may have some useful scraps in them that I haven't covered in the two Haines "Chronologies" to the right below.

And these are 5 transcripts of some SA Govt correspondence concerning the Haines men from the early days of the colony.
