Will of Edward White (17th June 1755)
In the name of God amen I Edward White of Bradford in the
County of Wilts Fundholder being sick and weak in body but of sound
disposition mind and memory praise be God do make and declare this my last will
and testament in manner following that is to say,
I give and devise unto my
beloved wife ^ all those my Messuages or Tenements Lands and
Hereditaments situate and being at Newtown in Bradford aforeasaid to hold
to my said wife for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease
I give and devise the same Messuages or
Tenements and premises with the appurtenances unto my son Samuel White
his heirs and assigns for ever,
I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Lee the
wife of James Lee
the the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain I give and bequeath unto my daughter
Sarah Spencer wife of Robert Spencer the sum of one hundred pounds
of like lawful money
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth White the
sum of two hundred pounds of like lawful money I give and bequeath to my said son Samuel White ten
pounds in money and all my wearing apparel both linen and woollen
I give and bequeath to my son in
law William Bennett the sum of twenty pounds all which money legacies before
mentioned I direct be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named within six
calender months next after my decease all the rest and residue of my goods
chattels rights and credits and personal estate my funeral expenses debts and
legacys being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my said
wife Elizabeth White
And I do hereby make and constitute
my said wife sole Executrix of this my will revoking all former wills
In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this sixth day of May in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and fifty five

published and declared by the said Edward White the testator as his last will
and testament in the presence of us and attested in his presence Dan Clutterbuck (the mark of) Matthew White

This will was proved at London the seventeenth
day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty five
before the Right Honourable Sir George Lee Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the Perogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the
oath Elizabeth White widow the relict of the deceased and sole executrix named
in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods
chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission
only to administer.
