must have saved & it told of Hugh Bawdon, 40 years resident of Pt Pirie
district & formerly a well known officer of the Education Dept (died aged
79 years and 11 1/2 months) was born in England & came to Moonta. He was head teacher at Riverton, Clare, Pt
Augusta, & Pt Pirie West (went to Pt Pirie West in 1889 & taught there
till 1897 when he retired & took a block at Napperby. My dad had spoken often his mother's brother
being head teacher at Pt Pirie (1889 plus 40 yrs = 1929 & he was 80 when he
died so we can presume he was born in 1849 - 3 years after Johanna)." [c]
