Will of Elizabeth White (6th
June 1761)
In the name of God amen I Elizabeth White of Bradford in the
County of Wilts widow being sick and weak in body but of sound disposing
mind and memory (praise be God) do make and declare this my last will and testament
in manner following (that is to say)
I give and bequeath unto my four daughters
Susannah Lee wife of James Lee of Box in the
County of Wilts Mason, Mary Bennett
wife of William Bennett of Bradford aforesaid Fundholder, Sarah Spencer wife of Robert Spencer of the
parish of Box in the said County of Wilts Innholder and Elizabeth Collins wife of Samuel Collins
of Bradford ^ Victualler the sum of one hundred and thirty pounds a
piece of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid within six calender months
next after my death
I give and bequeath unto my
brother Edward Stevens the sum of five pounds to be paid within one
month next after my death
I give and bequeath unto my said daughter
Susannah Lee one brown silk gown one cloth quilt coat one blur cloth coat
one under petticoat one table cloth two shifts two aprons one pair of cotton
hose one laced handkerchief and one plain handkerchief one pair of black gloves
one laced robe two plain robes and one pair of cloth shoes
I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Mary Bennett
one black silk cloak one black silk gown one black quilt coat one light
coloured stuff gown one linnen gown three shifts two aprons one double laced
handkerchief one plain handkerchief two laced robes two laced hoods and one pair
of cloth shoes
I also give to my daughter Sarah Spencer one linnen gown
one blue cambleteen gown one brown silk quilt
coat (and this is followed by ten dashes,
in place of words?) one camelteen ^ coat one
red cloak three shifts two aprons one laced handkerchief one plain handkerchief
one laced mobbant laced hood one pair of black
velvet shoes and one pair of leather shoes
I also give to my daughter
Elizabeth Collins one blue silk damask gown one striped satten quilt coat
one brown camlett cloak one pair of stays one pair of cotton hose two shifts
two silk handkerchiefs one double laced handkerchief one plain handkerchief one
double laced robe one plain double robe two pair of double ruffles one bedstead
curtains and vallons one bed three blankets four sheets one quilt one bolster
and two bolster drawers four chairs one table a pair of chest of drawers one
black framed looking glass and one little coffer
All the rest and residue of
my goods chattels rights credits and personal estate whatsoever (my funeral expenses
debts and legacys being first paid and discharged) I give and bequeath unto my
son Samuel White
and I do hereby make and constitute
the said Samuel White the said James Lee and Richard Pearce of Bradford
aforesaid Victualler executors of this my will revoking all former wills In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and seal the thirty first day of March in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and sixty one
the mark of Elizabeth White signed sealed published and declared by
the said Elizabeth White the testatrix as and for her last will and testament
in the presence of us Dan

This will was proved at London the sixth
day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty one
before the Right Worshipful Edward Simpson Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the perogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the
oaths of Samuel White James Lee and Richard Pearce the executors named in the
said will to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattels and
credits of the deceased was granted having been first sworn by commission duly
to administer.
