7/7/1844 - Born in Poulshot Wilts, to James Haines and Hannah (nee Flower)  [n]
   (Grandma Edmonds’ birthday book has a George Haines at July 7th)

31/3/1850 - Arrived (aged 5) at Pt Adelaide with his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters aged 1 to 15 (the 3 yo Elizabeth dying on the voyage out)  [p] 

1850's - Some suggestion that th family lived at walkerville for a while, then moved to Tea tree Gully.  A William Haines went guarantor for part of the family, and a William Haines (of Wilts?) lived at Tea Tree Gully. [b]  [p]  [k]

1860 - The family moved to Allen's Creek near Kapunda.  In the same area at Ross's Ck lived several Bawden families, one of the daughters being Johanna Miriam Bawden  [p?] 

13/6/1866 - George's dad (aged 51) died at home at Allendale Nth  [e]

12/3/1868 - George (23) Batchelor, farmer, of Allen's Ck, Dist of Kapunda, father James Haines, married Johanna Miriam Bawden (22) Spinster of Ross's Ck, father William Bawden, at Christ Church Kapunda, witnesses Fanny Lord of Mitcham and George Bawden, farmer of Kapunda.  Bride and groom both signed (her's not using the 'h' in her first name).  [a]
     Johanna was given away by her uncle, and her attendant was Fanny Lord, George's groomsman was brother-in-law Thomas (Cannell), after wedding the party went to Bawden home at Ross Creek, Johanna's uncle George Bawden sat on her right, next to him the twins (Emma & Harriett?) (implying they were of the bride's family ?). (George and Johanna's first child said to be popular with these twins)  [b] 

1/11/1869 - Their first child, Alice Maria born at Allans Ck   [g] 

1870 - A James Haines, farmer of Taylors Gap (nr Kapunda?) [d] 

1871 to 1877 - Six more children born at Allan's Ck  [g] 

1875 - A James Haines, farmer, of Allendale  [d] 

1875 - A George Haines, farmer, of Allen's Ck  [d] 

1875 - A Mrs Haines, farmer, of Allen's Ck  [d] 

c 1878 - It was around this time that the young couple took up a farming property further north at Mundoora  [g] 

1878 - "They had 7 children when they moved from Allandale .. to take up a farm at Mundoora.  Initially they had to cart water in to the farm, stock water 16 miles from the River Broughton and drinking water 20 miles from Crystal Brook"  [k]

1879 (to 1898) - George Haines, farmer, Mundoora  [d] 

1880 - A Mrs Haines, farmer, of Allen's Ck  [d] 

1880 - A George Haines, farmer of Mundoora  [d] 

1882 & 1883 - Haines (at Kapunda)... Mark Flower a Teamster, Thomas a Woodcutter, James a Carter, and in Mundoora George Farmer  [d] 

1886 - A George Haines, farmer of Mundoora  [d] 

17/5/1886 - Death of Mark Flower Haines (28) at his mother's residence at Kapunda, brother of Henry of Gerung Gerung Vic, and James, Thomas, and George of Allendale Nth  [f] 

1890 - A Mrs Haines, farmer, of Allen's Ck  [d] 

---------------- SPOUSE DIED ---------------- 

24/4/1890 - Tragedy struck the family when Johanna was thrown from the horse and trap onto a wire fence and was killed.  She was only 44 and George 46, with six children still under teenage.  Fanny the second eldest postponed her planned marriage for a year to help the family cope and to ensure that the nexr eldest girls Matilda and Ada could run the house.    [h] 

29/4/1890 - A fatal accident .. on Tues last (22nd)(?) as the wife of Mr G Haines, farmer of Mundoora, was returning home from Pt Broughton in a spring cart, the horse took fright and capsized the vehicle.  Mrs haines sustained such severe injuries that she succumbed to their effects.  The deceased, who leaves a large family, was greatly respected.  [c]
   (Johanna is buried in an unmarked grave in the Pt Brougton cemetery, but she was added to George's stone in Payneham cemetery when he died in 1930 - "In Loving Memory Of Johanna Miriam wife of George Haines died 24th April 1890 aged 44")  [e] 

30/8/1890 - George's mum died at Allendale Nth aged 76   [xx] 

1894 (& 1895) - A Mrs Ann Haines, storekeeper of Kapunda  [d] 

1895 - A George Haines, farmer of Mundoora  [d] 

 /2/1897 - At age 53, with most of the children either married off or well into their school years George re-married, to a Miss Elizabeth Levett of Portland Vic  [j] 

23/5/1900 – Fanny Haines (27) mar John Shearer (29, father Wm Pothinge Shearer) at Meth Church Mundoora (dist Frome)  [g] 

1900 - A George Haines, farmer of Pt Broughton  [d] 

1900 - Martin leased land at Mitchellville on the West Coast, and was joined by Harry (Haines?)  [b] 

1905 - A Mrs Ann Haines, postmistress of Allendale Nth  [d] 

23/7/1930 - George (aged 86) died at the home of a dau at Payneham and was buried in the Payneham cemetery.  Johanna was added to his tombstone (" ... also George, husband of above, died 23rd July 1930, aged 86" - row 25 on sth side)  [e]   [xx]
